Hi! I’m Rachel Lieberman…

Wife to Buddy Lieberman.

Mama to two boys (one in Heaven, and one in my arms).

Forever a student of whole-person health: nutrition + food sensitivities, herbs + essential oils, exercise + alignment, women’s health, pregnancy + birth, emotional + spiritual health, and martial arts. (Currently an advanced herbalist in training.)

I often choose a “focus word” for the year. For 2023, my word was inspired by my martial arts training: kiai, which means “spirit shout.”

A kiai is like a battle cry that collects everything from your core—emotional and physical—and projects it outward toward the obstacle in front of you. (Think Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” vibes.)

It amazes me how often the word I choose ends up being a little prophecy…a hint of the still, small voice I’ll hear behind me saying, over and over, “This is the way, walk in it” (Isaiah 30:21).

The last few years have held some heart-pounding leaps of faith, some breathtaking blessings, and some staggering losses. I married my best friend. I lost my relationship with my parents. My first son never breathed after he was born. My second son started crying before my husband could even hand him up to me.

And through all of that, I have felt a persistent call to keep using my voice. To “speak the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:11-16). To “write the vision [and] make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it” (Habbakuk 2:2-3).

I never expected this to be my testimony, my spirit shout, but here it is:

If I didn’t have my own very personal faith in God, my own 25-years-strong relationship with Jesus, and a love too deep both ways to walk away from…I would’ve happily walked away from Christianity by now.

But God is gracious beyond measure. He has provided unfailingly for every true need, and He has met needs and bound up wounds I didn’t know I had.

And He keeps calling me out into the Wilderness with Him…asking me for more trust, more faithfulness, more courage.

I’m Rachel Lieberman, daughter of the King, bought with Jesus’ blood.

Still broken…

But still healing and growing.

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing” (James 1:2-4).
